It's Official

The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome.

We couldn't hear a word of the ceremony, but it didn't rain and it ran fairly smoothly.

It was a beautiful day and night.

Congratulations, Derek and Misty!

Today's The Day

The big wedding.

Derek and Misty tie the knot. Guests are here. They've toasted at the rehearsal. It's time to make it official.

Stay tuned for uploaded photos late tonight, after the big event.

And may that 30% chance of rain please please PLEASE stay away from this early evening outdoor wedding.

PLEASE.

I Say There's Trouble In Kuhn City

Today our family from out of state arrived for the big day - Derek's wedding tomorrow.

So of course as with any get together of the Meister and Kuhn clan, we had our - TA DA - traditional Trouble tournament.

Yep, that's right. Trouble. The seemingly harmless, childhood game of jumping over rivals and sending people home.

We take our trouble very seriously in the Kuhn family.

For round 1, my niece Theresa and hubby Lar earned their spots in the championship round. (Yeah, she looks charming and sweet, but inside lurks a killer Trouble mastermind.) Round 2, brother-in-law Bob and yours truly here made the cut.

But who would win?
Well, I'm not going to toot my own horn but...

HONK!! HONK!!
And the prize was some lovely "Ode to Mexico" cake (to go with our Mexican Fiesta dinner theme that night) and watching the USF Bulls football team win big! Woo-hoo. First, the pride of being crowned trouble champion for the first time ever. Then, a Bulls victory.
Now, cake?

I don't think I could handle any more excitement this weekend... and apparently, neither can these sleepy two.

Zzzzzz

Tired.
Very tired.
Hardly any sleep last night.

Must lie down.

If you see me today, talk very very softly. Thank you.

Look Who's Not Talking...Ever Again

Ladies and gentlemen, a moment of silence for the death of the true "Quiet Man."

The really quiet man.

I mean, really quiet.

Am I the only one who's a little bothered by this photo? Is it just me? Really?

A Kuhnie Milestone

My first official by-line in a major newspaper!
Woo-hoo!

Sure, it won't win a Pulitzer or anything, but it's a start.

Somebody Just Turned Four!

Hard to believe it but my little grandson Deacon just turned four years old.

Okay, I'm lying. It's not hard to believe. I actually told someone a few weeks ago that he was turning five. Yeah, talk about getting old. I think we know now who's being most affected by the aging process here, don't we?! DOH!

We joined the family for a little birthday celebration at Derek and Misty's place...their wedding is just a week away. But today's festivities were all about this cute little boy.

And baseball.
And groovy-looking cake.

And more baseball. Woo-hoo!

Seems we may have a future hall-of-famer slugger on our hands. Who knows!
He still needs a little help getting dressed for the game but that's okay.

Even Grandpa Kuhn got into the action.

The spectators were quite overwhelmed by the hoopla!

Some even lost their heads over it. It was quite an event.

At the end of the party, it was really all about...well, baseball, yes, but cake. Lots of it. Groovy, tasty cake.
Groovy, tasty cake on fire.

Holy cow and the candles won't stop burning...

Um, Daddy?

Ruh-roh.

Okay, now this is just kooky!

Yep, he was easy to trick. He is only four, after all (see, I remember) but that didn't make it any less fun to watch as he marveled at the never-ending candles spark up again.
Four years down. Many more to come. And this little slugger is just getting started. Look out spring T-ball opponents...one pretty cool kid is headed your way.

New Logo Is Lacking

Is it me or does this remind you of a toothpaste logo?

The baseball diamond reminds me of a big pointy tooth, the light blue reminds me of a minty gel and the sparkle? Well, it's practically begging for me to roll my tongue over my teeth and exclaim, "It's a great feeling!"

I just don't get the new Tampa Bay Devil Rays logo. Granted, the awesome green of the ghost of Rays logo past is reminiscent of the USF Bulls, so if you're trying to create an easily recognizable presence in town, well, you're just not going to do it with green. I like it, but will admit when I'd see the color, I'd usually think Oakland A's.

Then there was the really old logo of bright greens and yellows and purples, which I must say that I liked the most. Call it the lite brite fan in me, but I loved it fresh, vivid take on an old sport. Others, I think, viewed it as a little TOO vivid.

In Tampa, if someone's wearing a red t-shirt and you only see him from behind, there's a pretty good chance when he turns around it will be a Bucs shirt. Similarly, the rich royal blue of the Lightning is fairly distinctive but hunter green? Not necessarily a Rays fan especially with the way they play, how Yankee-wacky these nuts are (boo!) and how good the Bulls are playing lately.

Still... is this new logo really the best they could do?

I just don't like it.

September Photo Shoot

Dex isn't always ready and willing to take pictures. Not even when it revolves around one of his favorite pasttimes. This month's photo shoot this weekend held true to that tradition.

You know, Dexter's a big fan of football, don't you? Not only is he the unofficial fantasy league commissioner at his fantasy games Web site that he manages... he's an avid watcher. Well, pretty much anything we want to see, he watches. It's tough to use the remote with dewclaws.

I think what Dexter loves best about football is that we golf less. No doubt about it, Sundays we're around the house more not to mention the greens fees rise, too. But we definitely hang around the house more during football season, so Dexter loves that.
More football? More mommy and daddy. It's as simple as that.

Now if only if would just take this dang picture.
There, that's it.

Wake Me Up When It's Over

Okay, I don't want to hear from FSU fans, because I am after all an alum and of course, still rooter for the team.

But was that THE most boring college football game of all time last night against Colorado?

It doesn't start until well after 10 p.m. EST. Then, once it does, it's like pulling teeth to get anybody to score!!

Man, the Noles just aren't what they used to be. It's just sad.
